Tuition and Barrett Scholarships
All costs associated with attending Arizona State University are established by the Arizona Board of Regents and approved by the state legislature. Review the costs to attend Arizona State University at http://www.asu.edu/fa/coa/. The financial commitment to be a Barrett student is no different than that incurred by any student attending the university with one exception. In March of 2006 the Arizona Board of Regents approved a $500 honors college fee ($250/semester). Unlike tuition increases, the proceeds from this fee are under the direct control of Barrett, The Honors College. Students play a major role on the budget committee that determines the exact allocation of the fee. Barrett students with demonstrated financial hardship have the option to submit a request for a fee waiver.
Most Barrett students receive merit-based scholarships through the university. All ASU applications are automatically reviewed for the following awards: President’s, Provost’s, University, High Honors (AIMS) Dean’s and Sun Devil. National Merit Semifinalists receive the equivalent money value of either the President’s or Dean’s scholarships (depending upon residency status). National Merit, National Achievement, and National Hispanic Finalists are eligible to receive additional monies.
For a complete description of these and other scholarships, visit the ASU website http://www.asu.edu/fa/scholarships. Families are also encouraged to fill out the FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the priority date of March 1st. To begin this process, go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
