Barrett Community Service Opportunities

"We know that helping others is the best way—probably the only way to achieve a better future for ourselves."
- Harry S. Truman

To be a member of Barrett, The Honors College is to be a member of a community of scholars dedicated to promoting service that will enrich the civic life of a far greater segment of the population while also complementing the learning that occurs within the traditional classroom environment. Barrett students are ambassadors outside the walls of academia as they develop rich personal and professional relationships through meaningful volunteer activities.

The administration and faculty of Barrett are committed to providing dynamic service opportunities whereby our students can grow and develop as members of an engaged and civil society. Volunteer positions, both on and off campus, exist through several existing honors college student organizations (explored in more depth in the subsections on this page) while students are also encouraged to seek out groups and areas that speak strongly to their personal interests. Keith Southergill, Student Services Coordinator Senior in the honors college, and the ASU Community Service Office are excellent resources for students looking to define their service goals, locate existing opportunities and even develop new programs.
